The Homeplace

This home was built in the mid 1800's and my grandfather purchased it in early 1950's. It is located on approx 100 acre farmland in southeast Kentucky. There is a log barn that is on the property as well. This homeplace has lots of potential for preservation and restoration and unfortunately I do not have the funds to even begin the project. The home has hand hewn logs and so much history. This land was known as a certified Tree Farm with the local Department of Forestry and many years used as an example for local and state studies by the County Extension Office, University of Kentucky observation for students and much more. My grandfather, Joe Sparkman, kept the property as a showplace for people to come see and was known to be one of the most preserved and protected land in eastern Kentucky. This could be used as landmark for all to come see the history, culture, lifestyle and heritage of the mountain people to preserve the wonderful culture many of us have in our family from generations gone by. I understand this may not be what you are looking for in the event, but could you please direct me to possible options to restore and protect this heritage and culture of my homeplace? Thank you very much, Sharon Dixon Ison granddaughter of Joe Sparkman June 2, 1896 - May 12, 1993.
