Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts- Seaview Farm Dairy Barn
Seaview Farm Dairy Barn was the last working dairy on Nantucket Island and represents mid twentieth century construction techniques and style. Since 1979, the barn has been repurposed, housing the studios, interns residence and programs of the Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts, founded and directed by Kathy Kelm. Luminaries presenting programs have included Buckminister Fuller; illustrator, David Macaulay; and this past summer modernist furniture designer, Vladimir Kagan. A capital campaign that began several years ago includes a collaboration with architectural students from Rhode Island School of Design to redesign, renovate and repurpose sustainably this important home of creative energy. This award would greatly enhance the process that will acknowledge the contribution of the school in the life of this island community and secure its future.
