Crozier Tech High School
Also know as Dallas High School and Bryan High School, is a three and half story, classical revival school that was constructed in 1907, making it the oldest remaining high school in Dallas. Located in the heart of downtown near offices, hotels and a major transit line, it sits vacant as a reminder of the past and what preservation is about. This building it located on prime real estate and could easily be transformed into additional offices or living/retail space for the surrounding area of downtown. Unfortunately, years of legal disputes have threatened the building with neglect and demolition. Known as many different names, the school is most often remembered as Crozier Technical High School, which it served as from 1942 to 1975 when it was renamed the Business and Management Magnet Center. The school eventually left the building in 1995 and it has been empty since. Crozier Tech is an important landmark in Dallas, both for its architectural significance and its cultural significance. The building’s location, size and unique design qualities make it ideal for preservation, and yet it sits boarded up and vacant, rapidly declining.
