A flagpole landmark in Northeast Ohio
I am from Ohio. I was just back there in December. They have demolished or are demolishing old factories, old churches, old high schools, old restaurants, old flagpoles even and perhaps not ALL is worth saving. But DAMN IT! They are eviscerating our industrial and cultural heritage! And its not like they are replacing these with something really wonderful or significant. - its Big Box stores and malls and gas stations. You want to strip emotion out of it but when the township (they have townships out there - look ;em up people) would rather tear down a flagpole that has stood for 150 years rather than try to do some fundraising or "out of the box" thinking to make basic repairs, its pretty damn pathetic. The people care but they are too busy attending to immediate issues. ( People make $3 an hour min. wage over there - I bet a lot of you don't know that!)
