Loft Kitchen

My concept for this design was to create a contemporary kitchen-living space that honored the architecture of this urban loft environment. I relocated the washer and dryer from the kitchen to the master bathroom to open up space for additional storage and counter-surface to the right of the sink, which made all the difference working at the sink but also provided an additional workspace so the couple could cook together. The counter top had to be durable and practically maintenance free for these busy clients who like to cook. We chose a dark color to match the cabinetry which added some drama to the space. The island with the waterfall edge support was enlarged and turned to provide a work/eating space in which the user could face the main part of the house and the city skyline beyond. The simplicity of the cabinet style compliments the architecture, while the contrast between the marble backsplash and dark Casesarstone Raven counter top add sophistication to the interior. The revised layout, in conjunction with the finishes, transports the kitchen into the future without having to forsake the past.
